Pre production diary

17/02/2022

In this lesson, I was given the brief for the new project. I then typed up an explanation of the brief explaining briefly who the clients is (as i will write a client brief later on),  what the goal of this brief is and when the deadline is. 

18/02/2022

For this lesson, i started researching the clients and creating a client brief on blogger. This is including history of the clients, who they are and have the collaborated before, this is accompanied with pictures. I also started documentary market research into 3 different documentaries and i completed this over the February half term .

On this lesson, we took at trip to the igloo in college which is a igloo shaped room that shows 360 videos all around the room from a projector.

For this lesson, i started researching into the different forms of documentaries.

For this lesson, i got given the task to research into the different forms of camera technologies and editing software. I will improve on this task next Tuesday lesson. I also finished my client brief and documentary research.

On this this lesson, i conducted primary research into my target audience by creating a Google Forms survey. This survey has both qualitative and quantitative question so have have more context and more things to take into account for my end product. I will give time to write up about this so it gives people time to fill out the survey, i have asked both people in the age range in and outside of college.

Today, i added more to my research into the different forms of camera and editing technology. I also got more people to fill out my survey.

On this day, i started my pitch for the documentary. I started by adding the right amount of slides that are needed and added all of the titles. I also written briefly about my idea in the documentary so when i am to later add to it, i can go into detail about it. This was the lesson i then collected the data from my survey and then screenshotted the responses to then later write about them next lesson.

17/03/2022

After collecting the data and putting them on blogger, i then written about them explaining why this will be helpful later on and what to take from it. The main problem i ran into from this was people not giving appropriate responses. The main example of this was someone responding with "F**king class" which wasn't really appropriate to upload onto my blogger to later be assessed. So what i done, was to sensor the word out. When writing about it, i used that as an example of how my audience are not set on a specific genre and would like any documentary as long as it catches their eye. There was also a response "chatting to lads pretending to be birds" and i used this as a talking point on how one thing that is on the negative side of social media is catfishes.

On this day, i started creating my rationale/pitch which shows my ideas for how i want my documentary to go and explaining why etc.

23/03/2022

Today, i spent my time adding more to my rationale. For next lesson, i will achieve to finish my rationale to then present it to my peers and then get their feedback.

24/03/2022

For this lesson today, i finished my powerpoint which features my pitch. I also then showed it to people to receive feedback on it. The way(s) i received feedback was firstly by getting the viewers to type up a few sentences to a paragraph of what they thought of it, what i could improve etc.

I then created a survey based on my pitch to get more feedback so it is more structured so people will not go off topic with their answers.

After giving it time for people to do my survey, i then looked at the results. But since i already asked for feedback before, not many people took part in my survey. However, there was still enough responses to write about the feedback survey.

Today i finished my post about my feedback that was about how i got my feedback, why i done it in two different ways, what the feedback mean, what i will learn from this and do i agree with it etc.

Today i finished all of the pre production paperwork and the storyboard that is needed for the documentary. I also added more to my script that i am writing for the documentary. As this is an expository documentary,  i am having to do a lot of writing for the script.
